KESTRIONKestrion is out in the open. Version 0.42.0 is the first release anyone can download, on both the Stable and the Beta channel.
An installer
Kestrion now comes with its own installer. Express installs straight into your own user folder; Custom lets you choose the folder and the shortcuts. Neither needs administrator rights. Prefer no installer? The portable zip is still there.
An updater that asks first
- The game always asks before downloading an update, and never interrupts a match.
- Updates install when you close the game, or when you press Restart now.
- The previous version is always kept, so you can go back at any time. If a new version fails to start twice in a row, the game offers to go back for you.
- Every update is signed with our own key, and the game checks the signature before using anything it downloads.
A Beta channel
Want new features before everyone else? Get the Beta code on our Discord, type it in Settings > Updates, and switch the channel to Beta. When a Beta has proven itself, the exact same files become Stable, byte for byte.
Since then: 0.42.1
The first balance patch makes the Arc Thrower hit harder and reach further: damage 34 to 36, and its lightning now jumps 230 instead of 170.
